The bowls start their life as bamboo and rice husks in a farmer’s field. When the farmer harvests the crops, the left over 'waste plant fibres' are collected together to prevent any waste which would otherwise remain unused and will be wasted. Bamboo is a breed of grass that grows very quickly, this helps to keep up sustainability.
Using a special process, the natural plant fibres are ground into a fine powder and mixed with a biodegradable resin, made from amino acids; it is the special resin that holds together the natural powder and creates a strong finish. Around 80% of the bowl's mix is from the natural bamboo and husk. The mix is then poured into a hot mould and pressed into the interesting and stylish Beco Bowl. The bowls are left to cool and your new pet bowl is finished!
When you no longer want to use the Beco Bowl, it can be placed on a compost heap or buried. Because of the formulation of the Beco Bowl mix, the feeding dish can easily break down. When exposed to the damp, warm conditions on this constant basis, the Beco Bowl will biodegrade fully within 2 to 3 years, meaning that there is no damage to the environment and the pet bowl has served well.
